In 1988, already having 8 years of experience in the insurance industry, Jim became the principle agent of JD Auvil Agency. He began the agency as a scratch agent, meaning he had no policies given to him. The first policy he wrote was his very own. With the help of his wife, Sheila and his mother-n-law Melva, who went to be with the Lord in 1995 due to cancer, the agency began to grow. Then there was his 5 year old son Jimmy in a suit, passing out his business cards at Farm Fresh saying, "Go see my dad for insurance."  All 4 children; Jimmy, Jacob, Johnathan and Amber began working at the agency as teenagers. Now, currently there are two locations in Carrollton and Chesapeake, VA. On staff is his wife Sheila as the office manager and bookkeeper, his son Johnathan, who is now the agency owner, and his daughter Amber. Jim went to be with the his Lord and Savior January 5, 2019. His favorite verses were:  Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me."

Son of founding agency owner Jim Auvil. I started as an associate agent for JD Auvil Agency in September 2010 and fell in love with what we do and the communities we serve. The relationships and bonds formed through handling client's insurance needs have been a true blessing to me. I met my wife, Catrelle Auvil, in May 2010. We got married 3 years later on October 6, 2013. God blessed us with two beautiful daughters, Cadence  & Paisley. When I’m not in the office serving my clients, I’m normally on a Softball field at Luter & Beale Park coaching. We attend our local church, Liberty Live in Smithfield, VA. I enjoy being with my family and enjoying the outdoors whether it’s hunting, fishing, golf, or anything on a baseball diamond. I was born and raised in Isle of Wight, VA. And it is my dream & desire to fulfill my dad’s legacy by passing his agency down to the 3rd generation. Lord willing, JD Auvil Agency will always be here to serve VA & NC.

After working along the side of my late husband, that started our agency over 35 years ago, God has allowed me to continue on being a part of our Agency. I have a strong desire to help clients find the best coverage, with the lowest premiums, that meet their needs. Outside of the insurance industry, I am a mother of 4, a grandmother of 7, and a child of the King, my Lord and Savior

I have been a Licensed Associate at the JD Auvil Insurance Agency since 2017. This position is important to me as I enjoy building relationships with clients which helps me to provide them more personalized service, being sensitive to the specific needs of that client, and potentially bettering their life, even in a small way. Helping clients through challenges gives me a sense of purpose in my work and also gives me peace knowing I was able to provide some sort of relief during a troublesome time. I pray each morning that God will work through me to be a blessing to others and to do everything with integrity, to the best of His ability and not my own. I have also been blessed with two wonderful daughters that show me each day how important it is to be a light in the world. We enjoy going to the library, playing on the beach, walking through the woods, and cooking together. I have a huge heart for animals, especially dogs, the bigger and droolier the better; as much as love being out and about with my family, being home and snuggling with my pets and babies is my favorite place to be.

Daughter of the founder of the agency, has been working at JD Auvil Agency since she was a teenager. She has been licensed in property and casualty since 2019. Amber earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Pensacola Christian College in 2017 then went on to marry her college-sweetheart, Brandon, in 2018. Brandon and her share two beautiful daughters, Elena James (5) and Adalind Rose(3) . Amber is a member at Liberty Live Church in Smithfield and has been serving in the children's ministry there since 2018.  It is such an hour for her to live out her father's legacy at JD Auvil Agency. She hopes to continue to build her relationship with her clients and be a light for Jesus in this industry.

I started my insurance career with JD Auvil in July 2022 as a customer service representative. Within my first year with the agency, I studied and passed my VA P&C license exam. I pride myself in being committed to the highest quality of customer service and experience I can provide. I fully acknowledge the importance of my role here at JD Auvil and most importantly the role I play in my clients’ lives. I graduated from Pensacola State College with a degree in Philosophy and worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years. I understand the value of hard work and am not afraid to dive into an issue to get a resolution. I’m currently studying to obtain my life license to add to my portfolio. During my time off, I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, and going to local Farmer’s Market in Smithfield.

Alyvia is a professional licensed  P&C Agent with JD Auvil Agency since September 2023. She was born and raised in Smithfield and graduated from Smithfield High at the age of 16. She dedicates herself to doing the best she can each day to bring glory to God! Colossians 3:23-24, Proverbs 28:19, 1 Thessalonians 4:11, John 3:16.

Barbara has been with JD Auvil Insurance Agency since May, 2024. She is a professional  licensed personal lines agent.  She lives locally with her wonderful husband and three teenage sons. In her free time she enjoys farm markets, traveling, and attending baseball games with her family. is a longtime member of Mill Swamp Baptist Church;  her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 23:4

 Diane, was a long-time customer of Nationwide that joined the team. When she had a house fire years ago, the fire marshall asked who her insurance was with, when she told him Nationwide, he said, "Oh, you're in good hands, Nationwide takes care of their clients." Diane love dogs and she loves to cook. She strives to treat customers as she would want to be treated.
